Fun fact (well, fun may be pushing). Cataract operations were first performed some 2,500 years ago in India and what was then Persia. The operation was performed by inserting a knife into the eye and pushing the lens out of the way. Post-operative care consisted of the 'surgeon' spitting in the eye and applying a poultice of animal dung. (Well, that was what a Prof told me at uni.) It's good to read that things have improved.
